Sathab Abbo
Deputy General Counsel
Sathab Abbo serves as Deputy General Counsel at Graham Media Group (GMG), joining the Detroit office in August 2024. In this role, she provides comprehensive legal guidance across all GMG entities, specializing in data privacy, licensing and commercial agreements, intellectual property, employment law, policy and compliance, litigation, and FCC regulations.
Before joining GMG, Sathab served as Head of Legal at VIIZR, a Ford + Salesforce joint venture startup, and as an IT Commercial Transactions Attorney within Ford's Office of General Counsel. Her legal career began in immigration law, where she gained valuable experience at prestigious firms and organizations including Clark Hill, Ellis Porter, The Chaldean Community Foundation, and i9 Advantage (later acquired by Equifax).
During her legal education at the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, Sathab completed notable judicial and governmental internships with Judge Helene White of the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Michigan Attorney General's Office, working in both civil rights and criminal divisions. Before pursuing law, she built a successful career in Information Technology, leveraging her Management Information Systems degree (B.S. in B.A.) from Wayne State University.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sathab demonstrates a deep commitment to community service. She dedicated many years as a mentor with Women of Tomorrow and currently serves on the Board of The Bonnell Foundation. Her community involvement extends to local food banks, shelters, civil rights organizations, and arts programs. She is an engaged Carnegie Mellon parent, certified yoga instructor, and proud mother of two college-aged daughters.
